About Kearney  
   

Kearney is located on the north bank of the Platte River and just south of the unique Nebraska Sandhills, along US Interstate 80.

Visitors to Kearney can find numerous outdoor adventures. Wet meadows, tallgrass prairie, and loess hills habitats are all within easy reach. The region is a staging area for millions of migrating birds, including endangered whooping cranes and several hundred thousand sandhill cranes that visit every spring. Wetlands in the nearby Rainwater Basin is important for migrating ducks, geese, and other waterfowl.
